I've written some interesting things

Ludology, self-reflection, criticism, prose, comedy, I've for some reason tried them all

  • Hacked By MuhmadEmad

    In Prose on

It was a long walk down that hallway. His mind wandered but the unending darkness permeated even his thoughts. He couldn’t quite construct the details of a figure in his mind’s eye; imagination reduced to the complexity of a drawing done by a blindfolded child. His steps were slow, careful. One hand trailed the rough bricks to his left. He was frail and useless with so little light to guide him, and yet too stubborn to be afraid.

  • Only One One

    In Prose on

She used to tell me that there would always be new ones, as if connections were easy for her. She used to tell me that I was her one despite this. I no longer believe either of these.

  • I Am The Ghost

    In Prose on

Sometimes at night I pull myself from my computers, wander into the center of my dwelling and stare at the furniture. I become aware of the ticks of each of the two clocks that carry on endlessly throughout each diurnal cycle. They lose time and yet they continue. Their purpose is only to keep it, not to keep it perfectly. And yet they are perfect for purpose. I stand waiting, feeling as if some supernatural being might appear to face me at any moment and overwhelm me with fear. I’d just black out, fall, and recover. But nothing ever comes.…

  • Furcadia: Proposed Web UI Adjustments

    In Creative, Games on

Remember when I said I’d attempt my own mockup of the Furcadia Web UI? Well I’ve followed through on that, to a degree. Before I begin, let’s note that all copyright for the source UI I’ve used is that of Dragon’s Eye Productions and I have no claim to it whatsoever. I am a proud Silver Sponsor For Life in

  • Prevent HDD Sleep in Windows 8

    In Personal on

I thought I’d share this with anyone interested, especially since it’s taken me many Google searches to actually find this. I have found an alternative to NoSleepHD, which doesn’t auto-start properly on Windows 8 and hasn’t been updated in a while. The alternative is called KeepAliveHD and it lives here: http://keepalivehd.codeplex.com/ Without such software, external hard drives are a real

  • YAY: Pizza Post

    In Personal on

Today I ate a pizza. This was not an ordinary pizza. It was advertised as a pepperoni pizza and my expectations were just as innocent. But alas, upon opening the cardboard enclosure, the 9.4 inch frozen mutant inside assaulted my gaze. Exactly half of the pizza was covered in pepperoni, and the other half lay bare, the uncovered cheese screaming

  • Ongoing Story: Depth Detachment

    In Prose on

I’ve decided to start writing a story in pieces, with the eventual hope of having enough material to create an electronic book of some sort, even if it’s a short story. One: Clinging Horizontal lines. Imperfect. The view of an abstract through irrelevant lashes as the lingering sting of sleep permeated his view. Grasping his head for a moment, he

  • Furcadia: Proposed UI Thoughts

    In Creative, Games on

Before jumping into the image below, note that this is a light-hearted assessment of a very preliminary mockup for Furcadia’s proposed new Web UI, taken from their page at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1810822448/furcadia-the-second-dreaming (I’m a backer. You should be too.) All DEP’s rights are reserved on the image I’ve “assessed” but I claim fair use. I do not claim it as my own.

  • Guild Wars 2: Split World

    In Games on

Prologue Before talking about Guild Wars 2, here is some context for my opinions. It is important to note that I haven’t played any of the original Guild Wars so my comparisons do not factor in ArenaNet’s past endeavors. Back in the days of my childhood – my life was terrible, at least in the way I perceived it. Suffering

Just for scrolling down this far, you’ve earned a bonus. You get to see my embarrassing visual feeds! Take Second Life with a grain of salt. It’s a virtual world and there’s plenty shenanigans to be had. I still like to build and script stuff there occasionally.
